Terms of Use

These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, safety tips, and community guidelines. Checking “I am 18+ and agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy” on a form is how you say you are an adult and that you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility and age

Lobby Tennis meetup and open-match features are for adults.

By using the service or submitting a form, you represent that:

• You are at least 18 years old, and
• You can form a binding agreement under applicable law

We use self-attestation: you tell us you are 18 or older. We do not independently verify age at soft launch.

Geographic focus: Soft launch is aimed at the United States, especially the Greater Richmond, Virginia metro. We do not promise the product is appropriate or lawful for every other jurisdiction.

Under 18: Some local tennis leagues allow minors with a parent. That model may not fit a stranger open-match board. The soft-launch rule is 18+ only. The site is not for children under 13.

2. What Lobby Tennis is (and is not)

Lobby Tennis is

A technology tool that helps adults:

• Discover open tennis matches at public parks
• Claim seats on those matches
• Join a waitlist
• Express interest in optional services (stringing, ball machine, lessons)

Lobby Tennis is not

• A paid court reservation system, or a landlord of parks
• A paid league with official standings, umpires, or guaranteed play
• The employer of coaches, stringers, or ball-machine providers. Service-interest forms are requests for information only until separate paid terms exist
• A guarantor of any player’s skill, identity, honesty, or character
• An emergency service
• Affiliated with the City of Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County, or any other city or county park system, unless a real written partnership exists. None exists at soft launch

Platform only. Lobby Tennis is an intermediary: a coordination tool. You arrange and attend play yourself. We do not organize, supervise, referee, or host your matches in person.

3. Accounts and profiles

Soft launch: sticky browser profiles

Today you may use a sticky browser profile (no password). That means:

• Your device or browser may remember profile choices locally
• You are responsible for who can access that device
• Provide an accurate name and level. Do not impersonate someone else

You can clear the saved profile from Account (“Clear this browser”).

Later: real accounts

When we add sign-in, you will need to keep credentials secure, use one person per account, and accept that we may suspend accounts that violate these Terms. We will update this section when login ships.

4. Match claims, waitlists, and forms

• Claiming a seat is a coordination tool, not a ticket, reservation, or binding contract for court time. Parks control courts. Other players may cancel or not show up.
• No-shows hurt the community. See the community guidelines. For now, communicate and be considerate.
• A waitlist signup expresses interest in Lobby Tennis. It is not a guarantee of a match or of future features.
• Service-interest forms (stringing, ball machine, lessons) are requests for information only. They are not a purchase until payments and separate seller terms exist. We may follow up by email.

Forms may be processed through FlowForm (or a successor) and delivered to our contact inbox.

5. User content (photos and text)

You may upload a profile photo and provide text (name, notes, level, preferences).

License to Lobby Tennis

You grant Lobby Tennis a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display your photo and profile text on the Lobby Tennis product (for example on the match board) so the service can work. We display that content on the product for coordination, not for ads, unless you separately agree.

Your promises about content

You represent that:

• You own the rights to what you upload, or have permission
• A profile photo is of you, or you have clear permission to use it
• Content is not illegal, infringing, pornographic, or intended to harass

We may remove content or suspend access if we believe these Terms or community standards are violated.

A formal copyright-notice process may be added later if user-generated content scales.

6. Community conduct

Be respectful. The short version also lives on the community guidelines. In particular:

• No harassment, hate, threats, stalking, or unwanted sexual advances
• No spam, scams, or scraping other users’ emails for unrelated marketing
• No fake profiles or stolen photos
• Follow park rules and local law (court hours, noise, alcohol, reserved courts, and the like)

We may suspend or end access for violations or risk to others.

7. Safety: meeting people and playing tennis

Meeting people you do not know, and playing sports, involve real risks. Please read this section and the safety tips.

7.1 In-person meetups

Using Lobby Tennis may lead you to meet people in person at public parks. That involves risk, including crime, harassment, or uncomfortable interactions.

Practical tips, not a guarantee of safety:

• Meet at public courts, preferably in daylight
• Tell a friend where you are going
• Trust your instincts. Leave if you feel unsafe
• For emergencies, call 911. Lobby Tennis cannot respond to emergencies

Background checks: We do not routinely run criminal background checks on users. Do not assume anyone you meet through Lobby Tennis has been screened, verified, or approved by us.

7.2 Sports and physical activity

Tennis involves inherent risk of injury (strains, slips, ball strikes, heat illness, and more). You are responsible for your own fitness, equipment, hydration, and weather judgment. Court conditions are controlled by park or facility operators, not Lobby Tennis.

7.3 Assumption of risk

You participate in matches and meetups at your own risk, and Lobby Tennis does not supervise play.

8. Disclaimers

Lobby Tennis is provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties that:

• Matches will occur as posted
• Players will show up, be truthful about skill, or behave well
• The site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Any particular result or experience is guaranteed

Some states limit how far a disclaimer can go. Nothing here is meant to exclude rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lobby Tennis will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from:

• Offline meetups or interactions with other users
• Tennis injuries or court conditions
• No-shows, disputes between players, or inaccurate profiles
• Third-party services (forms, hosting, email)

If a court nevertheless finds us liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the prior 12 months or (b) $100.

Where the law does not allow limiting liability for gross negligence, fraud, or other non-waivable claims, those limits do not apply.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless Lobby Tennis from claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your content (photos and text), your misuse of the service, your conduct at meetups or matches, or your violation of these Terms or of others’ rights.

11. Third-party services

We rely on third parties such as FlowForm, hosting providers, email providers, and maps or link destinations. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services.

Lobby Tennis is not responsible for outages or failures of third-party services beyond what we can reasonably control.

12. Intellectual property

The Lobby Tennis name, logo, site design, and original content we create belong to Lobby Tennis.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to use the site to coordinate tennis play as intended. You may not scrape, copy, or reuse the product for a competing service without permission.

Your profile content remains yours, subject to the license in section 5.

13. Stopping

• You may stop using Lobby Tennis at any time. Email hello@lobbytennis.com to request deletion of profile data. See the Privacy Policy.
• We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms, create risk for others, or if we shut down or redesign the soft launch.

Provisions that by nature should survive (for example intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law) will survive after you stop.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a new version and changing the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may email users when we have addresses or show a notice on the site.

Continued use after changes may mean acceptance.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would point elsewhere.

Venue: Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Arbitration: These Terms do not require private arbitration and do not ban group lawsuits.

16. Miscellaneous

• These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the safety tips, and the community guidelines are the agreement between you and Lobby Tennis.
• If one part is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• If we do not enforce a provision once, we may still enforce it later.
• We may assign these Terms in connection with a sale or reorganization of Lobby Tennis. You may not assign your rights without our consent.

17. What these Terms do not cover yet

Do not assume the following exist today:

• Payments, refunds, or marketplace seller terms
• Coach or vendor employment, or an agency relationship
• In-app chat rules
• App Store or Google Play supplemental terms
• Text-message or push-notification consent
• Insurance for players or organizers

We will add those modules before those features launch.
