Meeting people at the park

Lobby Tennis helps adults find open tennis matches at public parks. You arrange and attend play yourself. We do not supervise matches, verify identities, or run background checks.

Before you go:

  • Meet at public courts, preferably in daylight. Avoid isolated spots or after dark when the park is empty.
  • Tell a friend where you are going, who you expect to meet, and when you plan to be back.
  • Share your location with someone you trust if that feels right for you.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, before or during play, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
  • Keep early contact light. Prefer coordinating through the product or email before sharing your personal phone number or home address.
  • Arrive ready to leave. Park where you can exit easily. Bring your own water and gear.

Emergencies

Lobby Tennis cannot respond to emergencies.

  • If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
  • For non-emergency park issues (locked courts, unsafe conditions), contact the local park department or non-emergency police line for that city or county.

We do not background-check players

Important: Lobby Tennis does not routinely run criminal background checks, identity verification, or safety screening on users.

Do not assume that someone you meet through Lobby Tennis has been vetted, verified, or approved by us. Treat new partners the way you would treat any stranger you arranged to meet in public.

Tennis and sports injury basics

Tennis involves inherent risk of injury: strains, slips, ball strikes, heat illness, and more.

You are responsible for:

  • Your own fitness, warm-up, and judgment about whether to play
  • Your equipment and shoes
  • Hydration and heat or weather awareness
  • Deciding whether court conditions look safe

Court conditions (surface, nets, lighting, hours) are controlled by the park or facility operator, not Lobby Tennis. If a court looks unsafe, do not play. Report it to the park if appropriate.

Follow park rules and local law

Public parks have their own rules. Respect them.

Examples (check the specific park):

  • Court hours and reservation or first-come practices
  • Noise, alcohol, glass, and trash rules
  • Sharing courts fairly when others are waiting
  • Pets, bikes, and other park restrictions

Lobby Tennis is not affiliated with the City of Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County, or any other park system unless we later announce a real written partnership. Using Lobby Tennis does not give you special rights at a park.

If something goes wrong

Quick checklist

Before you submit a claim or head to a court:

  1. Adults only. You confirm you are 18+.
  2. Public park, preferably daylight.
  3. A friend knows your plan.
  4. You understand we do not background-check players.
  5. You will follow park rules and leave if you feel unsafe.
